Mike Forbes has taken the decision to step down as the head coach of the Leeds Junior Knights after two seasons in charge. He played a crucial role in setting up the club at Elland Road in 2021 and then its huge growth over the past two years.
A change of work circumstances has meant that Mike isn’t able to commit as much time to the club as he would like. Club chair Seth Bennett said: “Mike has put a lot of time and effort into helping get this club off the ground and he deserves lots of credit for that.”
“In his time as head coach the club has grown massively bringing hockey to the next generation of players in West Yorkshire. We have also had competitive teams out on the ice, with the U12s going to Nationals twice. the U14s winning the D1 and D2 titles and the U16s winning the D2 title in 2022/23.”
“We wish him all the best and thank him and Anna for all the time and energy they have put in, to make sure the club is a success.”
Davey Lawrence will take over the role as interim head coach with the support of the rest of a very strong coaching team.
